Campgrounds near Yellowstone?

If you can get a reservation at *any* campground near YNP/GTNP, then take it.
Personally, I like the FS campgrounds a little further away from the parks--much quieter, and only an hour away or so.
YOu couldn't pay me to camp in YNP, unless it is in the backcountry, which is what I do. Park and hike in at least a good four hours. Zillions of options.
At GTNP, I like Lizard Creek. It's the quietest campground. Still awesome views, if you get there early and get a lakeside campground.
Flagg Ranch is a good location. That's what I can say.
But, I live out here and have high expectations for a campground. I don't want to be kept awake all night listening to generators and TVs from the RV At the next campsite. Some don't care.

That Ponderosa looks like a very nice place. We stayed in Cody last year on the way out of Yellowstone at a campground across from a great steakhouse on the west side of town. They were friendly and not a bad place. It was only 15 dollars a night for 2 of us. Cody is a nice place to stay at
