Default Riding to Big Bend National Park

In two weeks, me and the LIBF and another couple are headed to Big Bend from Central Texas. I am really excited - we plan to ride hard to get there in enough time to spend a couple of days just riding Big Bend. We will be returning home to Central Texas via Del Rio and back roads.

This will be my first big ride on my Street Glide...then in June we are off to Tennessee!!!

Not sure which route you're going to take, but if you go through Brady, stop in at the Hard Eight BBQ. Good food there. Sounds like you have a great trip planned.

I love Big Bend and it is a great place to ride. If you have time, make sure to cruise up FM 170. It starts in Terlingua and then runs along the Rio Grande. It's pretty remote and in my opinion, one of the most scenic roads in Texas. Have fun and take lots of pics....

I just got back today from Big Bend parks and area. Like you we rode in hard the first day from Fort Worth taking 67 to Alpine for the night. First morning rode the 118 loop up thru Fort Davis (good place stretch your legs) then ran down thru Marfa to Presidio. Beautiful loop but keep an eye open for the wild life and we came up on free roaming cattle a couple of times. From the Presidio we rode along the Rio Grande thru Big Bend Ranch State Park - what a beautiful ride. You can get a good meal in Lajitas. Spent the night in Terlingua and then spent the next day riding the National Park. The Chisos Basin ride was just plain awesome and is a MUST do. The eastern route out (385) was long, flat and slow (45mph). Next time I'll back track back thru Alpine. Thrusday morning there was frost on the bikes in Alpine and Friday afternoon was 94 in the park. Dress in layers. It was my first trip there but it won't be the last! Enjoy your trip.

Be sure to see the Davis Mountains just North of Marfa.
