Also, most of the roads I have traveled on in SK are in very poor condition. I would recommend staying farther south and traveling along the high line in MT to get the same experience, for less money. Just try to stay off US2 at night.
I went through Glacier the first week in July last year (2009) and the Going to the Sun Road had only been open for a week! Plenty of road work delays. If you get there too early in the season it may still be impassable.

We were there just the week before -- when it had just barely opened. You have to realize that the road is filled with snow during the winter, and the spring melt brings with it mudslides, etc. It seems that in some parts they have to basically excavate a new road every year. It was certainly worth the trouble for us; but you'll want to check to make sure it's open.
