The weather here in the Adirondacks is still cool in late may. However, the mountain rides from here to the Greens in VT and the Whites in NH are spectacular. Early june warms up nicely and you could even catch Americade in Lake George.

On another note......we get a lot of rain in the Northeast in the Spring, so bring your rain gear!

Nope, I wouldn't. Don't like to race up, cruise for 2 days in Maine and race back home.

That is if you decide to go...My advice would be is not to take New York Thruway cuz it's expensive to ride on that road...Go on I-86 East then I-88 East towards to Albany and head on up towards to Troy then you decide the rest.

Like others said, "Best prepare yourself for cold and rainy weather, LOL".

Good Luck,

Thorey

I like the sound of Dalton's route I think I may try that out. Thank you all for your help this has been awsome. I think I will save Maine for when I can take some time and do it up right. Maybe I will take that trip with the wife for a summer vacation. Thanks so much for all of your help.

Default Turn on Rt 144 at Galeton

Looks like a good trip, but if you like winding roads, if you are going east on RT 6, turn right in Galeton and take Rt144 South towards Renovo down to Snow Shoe. I remember it being great MC roads along streams cutting thru the mountains. You can pick up your original route there.

If you go your original route thru Jersey Shore, stop and eat at Santino's Italian Restaurant. The Grand Canyon of Pa is also pretty impressive. Watch out for deer.

I don't know the roads or area at all, so I can't give advice on that, but if I were in the neighborhood I'd have a hard time not spending some time at the York plant and also at the various historical sites of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Have you checked out those locations along the route?

He said he's been to Blue Ridge (BRP?), but how about the Dragon? I thought that was a must for all riders . . .

The Dragon is highly overated. If you ride Rt 16 in WV from start to finish, it is far better, and longer. Problem with the Dragon is that it is so tight, you wear yourself out just staying in your lane! Yes, if you are down ther, by all means ride the Dragon, but I would not make a special trip for it.

I personally don't see a hurried fast-paced 5 days riding as being enjoyable...
way too much scenery to enjoy, and it can't possible be done at 85 mph.

Besides, visiting Maine is over rated........too damn many tourists under
foot to enjoy yourself !!
