If you come west across from the Glades, Myakka State Park is a nice visit. Pink flamingos and airboat rides in a beautiful natural setting.

I forgot to mention that we're going for two weeks starting July 3. It will be pretty hot I guess, but we've been in Orlando and Miami in July/August before and it wasn't that bad.

Default St. Augustine

I'm glad to hear St. Augustine is highly recommended, because we are spending two nights there on the way down, and two more on the way up. Here's what I ended up planning:

Frederick MD (home) to Rocky Mt NC - KOA Kabin - 1 night
- to Charleston SC - KOA Kabin - 1 night
- to St Augustine FL - KOA Kabin - 2 nights
- to Kissimmee FL - hotel - 3 nights
- to Sunrise FL (near Ft. Lauderdale) - hotel - 1 night
- to Sugarloaf Key FL (near Key West) - KOA - rent a new Airstream Trailer! - 2 nights
- to West Palm Beach FL - hotel - 1 night
- to St. Augustine FL - hotel - 2 nights
- to St. George SC - hotel - 1 night
- to Rocky MT NC - KOA Kabin - 1 night
- to home

Dont forget the sunscreen!!!
As a Daytona Native, St Augustine is cool. Then do the LOOP in Ormond Beach, just south of there, aka Tomoka park.
A1A is the road that parallels the coast, that will make for a nice ride.
As for shopping, there is a good size outlet mall in St Augustine and in Orlando there is a bunch including the newer Mall of Mellenia.
Let Google be your guide.....

And yes, do watch out for the blue hairs!

Default great fl tour

I did the fl tour went down A1A, and us 1 through fernindina and st aug then into titisville, toi watch a launch-great view from A1A, through stewartvia the reef beach area, down us 1 to the keys, watch your speed in broward county, they have lots of cops and little to do. keys are one hour south , plan on staying at buccaneer resort, the bike can sit at the door beach front next to you about 89 dollars a night cabin. return up hwy 40 via aligator alley stop at shark valley monument to see gators and fantastic everglades view, continue north via coastal route towards port charlotte, go to the beaches in badento area- this is margaritaville. north to crystal river to swim with manatees, then north on 41 or 441 to GA. 4 days the route I took and take your time.

Cybricon, it seems that you are planing on using 95 out of Northern Virginia? If you want some more scenery, take 81 South to 77 South. That takes you up the Shenandoah Valley and drops you out of Virginia just north of Charlotte. You then follow 77 south to 26 East and end up in the Charleston area. Great Shopping in Charlotte. Much more than Rocky Mount.
