Most of the better riding is definatley in the south east part of the state. The Red River Gourge loop and Natural Bridge area is great riding. If you are looking for flatter/straighter roads, the Central Ky Horse country has good rides.
When you're riding your bike, there are no bad roads. Just some better than others. Y'all come on down and you'll go home with a smile on your face. ENJOY !!!

While it's been 10 years since I've lived there, I still call Ky home. The Red River Gourge/Natual Bridge area of the Daniel Boone National Forest is a great place to ride. BUT...be careful. Lots of hairpin turns with locals coming the other way deep in the center of the road.
My folks live on Barren River Lake, and the ride from Louisville down 31E and then back up 31W is some pretty nice riding. Easy to go through Bardstown and do all the Bourbon tours.
And of course, you can alway make a ride to Corbin KY and eat at the original Kentucky Fried Chicken!
I will give you credit, central and eastern Ky have some great rodes and is gorgeous. But i am from western Ky myself, and if you bring a road map, you can find some absolutely gorgeous riding. Unfortunately for me i havent been back to "ride" kentucky since i got out of the army, but me and the wife are planning our summer runs and one is going to be back home to western ky. You have the land between the lakes, garden of the gods just across the river in Ill, and little Sturgis if you want a rally. Just take any 2 lane road off the highway and you will not regret it! well most of the time anyway! Give it a chance!
