Good point on the deaf drivers. Plus consider all the Ultra and Wing riders with speakers in their helmets.

California allows 1 earpiece but when we were lunching at an In and Out Burger we talked to a couple CHP motor cops and they had 2 speakers in their helmet

I think you will be OK if you are ever in Texas. I wear earplugs when I ride and as someone said deaf people drive all the time.

I wear my iphone headset when I go on long rides, I have never been stopped, I heard somewhere that someone, somewhere did get a ticket for wearing them, but fought the ticket based on the deaf driver argument, I believe the ticket was thrown out.

I spoke with our Police Chief yesterday about this question. He said that it is absolutely legal to drive with both earphones and earplugs. (He also rides a Road King)

He said he is not aware of any states that have a law against it. He did say that this is one of those urban myths that people begin to believe, similar to driving barefooted.

Both are perfectly legal!

Yep but I wear both on longer rides anyway. I have a couple of sets, both are noise canceling earbuds and it is nice to have the road noise quieted and some tunes going. With my old helmet I used to wear a beanie underneath since it was actually too big (i know) and I would hide the earbuds under the beanie. with my new ACC, no beanie so I'm not sure how I am going to hide them as well unless I am wearing my facemask.
