you have not said where your coming from, what you like to see or do? Where you hope to end up? Hwy 35 runs north and south right along the river. There are bluffs and small towns all along this road. Praire du chien has a cabelas that is nice to see. Stop and get a Pete's hamburger down town. Right across the river there is a casino in Ia. Lacrosse has river boats, nice area. You could cross at Praire du chien and go up the Iowa side, cross the river in Lansing back to Wi. Nice Bridge. Nice overlook in Lansing Ia. The ride along the river is the best in western wi

last summer out of illinois into wisconsin picked up rte 61 into boscobel ate a burger in town, went north out of town took rte 60 east along river over to sauk city, stopped at sauk prairie hd. we then left north on 12 up to west baraboo then we took 33 all the way back west to lacrosse. spent the night in lacrosse then left south on 35 to prairie du chien. crossed the mississippi followed river down to dubuque then took 4 lane to clinton crossed back to illinois and headed home. 61 s of boscobel a little rough. 60 e is veryscenic and curvy. 12 n out of sauk city is not a long stretch but a little boring. 33 w to lacrosswe was my favorite part. very scenic and some good twisties. once we crossed at prairie du chein into iowa it started raining so we coulldn't enjoy the roads quite as much, but would be alot of fun if dry. hope you have a good trip.

You can't go wrong in that area! get a decent map, and explore the county roads (alphabet roads); Eastern Iowa is great as well... There is nothing but good riding there! I believe someone else asked, where are you coming from?
If you like ferry boats, catch the Cassville ferry to Iowa; there is some dirt road on the Iowa side, but not too bad (you'll end up on C9Y in Iowa, near the town of Turkey River.
I'm in Peoria, IL, and I get up there a couple of times a year. Enjoy!

New Diggins has two biker bars (about twenty miles east of Dubuque), one is a converted barn, the other a general store from 1824, Monroe has a brewery where the tour is ten bucks and you take home eight bottles of beer, plus the last I heard it's all you can drink at the bar at end of the tour, Potosi has a brewery with a nice restaurant, and the river road on both the Wisconsin and Iowa sides are great.

If you want a truly "unique" experience try to find a tiny little bar called "The Jackson Clinic" We always hit it during our chicken Runs to Rockton. Not sure if you can even find it on a map but if you do track it down you'll never forget it. +1 on the sunday chicken runs and try to hit Wildcat Mtn. state park. The roads around there are awesome and the park is beautiful.
