Default Utah Highway 24 - For the thrill seeker!

I just did a four-day ride from Vegas to The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, to Monument Valley, to Bryce Canyon, to Zion National Park, and back to Vegas.

There are lots of twisties all over southern Utah but no-one warned me about this stretch of Highway 24 north of Escalante, Utah. When traveling south you come around a corner at about 40-50 mph and then see this ...

Here is the drop-off, you can see the highway on the far left ...

It was so much fun that I just had to make a u-turn and do it again!

That looks like fun I've been to those parks you listed with the mustang but would like to do it again on the Fatbob.

Is this somewhere between Torry and Hanksville? Maybe in the Capitol Reef N.P. area?
Or is it actually the 12 heading towards Escalante?

Wondering as I am planning to ride this area sometime next year.

Hwy 12 runs roughly north-south between Escalante and Torrey, UT. Hwy 12 ends in Torrey where it "T's" into Hwy 24, which runs east-west between Hanksville and Torrey, UT.

The "razorback" is on Hwy 12 between Escalante and Boulder, UT. If you want to experience this road in it's full glory, get there soon, because our wonderful state DOT is about to make some significant changes. Read all about here:

I REMEMBER THAT ROUTE!!!! We did it the end of Oct '09 and thought the winds were going to blow us clear off the top. Left or right, its straight down on either twisting side! Like the Moki Dugway, it might be 'fun' if you are driving, but as a passenger it was unnerving.

If plans don't fall thru, we should be hitting that road in 5 or 6 months. Sounds like any construction won't be started before then.

Road work can really ruin a good trip !

As TheBlackBastard said, this is Highway 12 between Escalante and Boulder.

I will post a trip report, with a route map, and photos in an hour or two.
