Touring in Canada - questions
#31
i dotn have any input on your planned trip, but i grew up in Sooke, beutiful place to visit even better when the sun is out. did you get a chance to take in soem of the local stops like 17 mile house, the Pot Holes * provincial park that has some awesome swiming* etc.
if you ever do an east coast trip let me know your coming and i'll put some tradtional eastcoast fare on for ya and take you touring around.

Yes Sooke is a lovely little place, and when the rain went away we saw it as it should be seen and took a walk out on Whiffin Spit (I grabbed the photo below) and the new boardwalk they've built there. The day we went up to Port Renfrew was pretty torrential rain but we did manage a walk on the Jaun de Fuca trail to the suspension bridge and a mooch around a few of the beaches but not much else infortunately. The B&B we stayed at had been getting visits into their garden by a black bear but we never got to meet him!
There's a good possibility of an East coast run some time in the not too distant future, My daughter has moved up to Ottawa for a short while to do a Fellowship at the university there, she took a run to Montreal for a few days recently and loved it there. Her partner is French Canadian from around those parts so they're talking of moving over there when her fellowship and Phd are done.
Back on the subject of the 2010 trip - I'm still trying to decide: south out of Nakusp to Creston then up to Banff or North thro Revelstoke and Golden......can't decide!
