That is typical. The Irish summer, especially in the west country, is much like a New England spring: cool, crisp in the morning, mellowing out to a nice warm afternoon, and cool in the evening again. Typical summer temps hit 75-80°F.

In the east it will get warmer. I've been in Dublin when it was over 90°F for over a week. Hard to take there--very, very few places have AC, and really no prevailing breezes.

Just remember: Ireland , as far north as it is, stays fairly mild year round due to the Gulf Stream hitting the west coast, straight form the Caribbean. The moisture comes from the north Atlantic. So when the two combine, the warmth of the Gulf Stream takes the bite and sting out of the north Atlantic storms, keeping the place mild and very green, even in the winter.

The NW of the country gets the most rain. The SE the least.

But you will have the best rain gear when riding in Ireland: the pub in the next village Stop in for a cup and a bowl. (tea and soup/stew).

No disputing that GVI led most of the anglophone world in rescuing France-- or at least his first minister did.

But France was French for several centuries prior to that.

Although, it may be the UK to save France again this century--economically.
