I stayed in Gatlinburg this April at the Rocky Waters Motor Inn
http://www.rockywatersmotorinn.com/ It's down from the main drag and you are in walking distance of most everything. If you are going out to dinner and like fish try the Trout House....excellent! Be sure to share some pictures when you get back!

Been there many times and usually stay in Gatlinburg. Holiday Inn is OK, some of the other older motels have smaller rooms and accomodations, but have good locations to restaurants and shopping. (Pigeon Forge has some good places as well, but I still prefer Gatlinburg) Where ever you stay, I would make the reservations asap. Town is extremely busy that time of year.
