I can tell you that Hanksville and Torrey have fuel. Hanksville is only about 125 miles from from Blanding.

Get gas in Blanding ... there's not another spot until you get to Hanksville. It's around 125 miles between stops ... so be sure to have a full tank and something to drink. This time of year it's still getting pretty hot out there.

Hanksville to Torrey (on 24) is another 57 miles, and there's plenty of spots in Torrey to stay or eat as well. Torrey is more or less the "front door" to Capitol Reef ... so it's a good spot for starting or ending the day.

One spot worth a stop on the way through Capitol Reef is Fruita, UT. Not much left there as far as the original settlement (hint: no gas), but the orchard and short drive is very nice. The Fruita valley is a nice contrast to the surrounding area. The Fruita campground is very nice this time of the year with daytime temperatures still reaching the low to mid-80s and night temps dipping into the 50s.

I just got back from there another option is head south at Torrey on HWY 12 to Bryce Canyon and Zion that HWY 12 is something else and Bryce Canyon is out of this world. Becareful HWY 12 was crawling with deer.

I'm not sure if you're looking for the 50 in Utah or more for "The Loneliest Road" through Nevada. If it's the Utah 50 you're looking for, may I suggest this route after leaving Torrey:

Head northwest on UT-24 towards Lyman. Turn right on UT-72 North towards Fremont. About 3 miles past Fremont is a left turn towards Fish Lake (UT-25). The "Fish Lake Loop" is really fun and a beautiful ride, too. (Some maps show it as a gravel road, but don't believe it...it is paved all the way through.) You'll end up back on UT-24. Hang a right (north), travel about 25 miles or so, ride under I-70 and you'll hook up with UT-50 in about 4 miles.

Have a great ride!

+1 on that. If the link works, there's 70 pics from my ride through Bryce Canyon and Highway 12. IMHO, it's a must do ride.
