I have a "DeLorme NC Atlas & Gazetteer" map that is very similar to the US Forest Service maps, and it has the Parkway numbered as 2 for a while. Hwy 2 meanders south into Georgia after leaving the BRP at Balsam Gap, and turns into Hwy 181 at Jonas Ridge on the north end. The BRP turns into 441 at the entrance to the Cherokee National Park, and otherwise has no number since it also is designated a National Park.

Just got back from that area and the forecast for next week is lows around 50 and high around 75. Another good road around Hendersonville is from Chimnet Rock to Black Mountain,,,20 miles of good mountain roads. Lots of good under publicized roads up there. Also look at Shady Valley 416 curves in 12 miles. . Pack your rain gear and just enjoy riding.

madmax54 Remember those are bike as in bicycle routes so you could have a group rideing s l o w in a curve. It would be nice if we had long motorcycle only routes,, oh well.

Last time we were in the area it was like playing "hide & seek" with the rain, I'd see the clouds and head the opposite direction. Had a ball and only got hit by a sprinkle or two, no biggie. Now going up that time we got into rain around Charlotte and rode in the rain all the way to Spartanburg ...not fun.
We already have our gaithers, waterproof gloves and rain gear ready, I feel there's nothing more miserable than wet leather boots, socks and underwear!!
Anyway, excellent info and tips, I'm sure all this will help make for a great trip, can't thanks you guys enough, I'll post pics when we get back ...best regards!

hardluk1 made a very good point to remember! There were a bunch of bicylers out this past weekend, (every weekend) so you don't want to take the inside line on a blind curve cause you might bump into one. Really.

We stayed at the Microtel in Maggie and would definitely stay again. The only drawback was there was not any cover anywhere to park the scooter during the rain.

Check out the Fryemont Inn www.fryemontinn.com/ in Bryson City, NC.
We spent 3 nights there in June and did day rides to most of the places you mention.
The daily rate looks expensive but it includes full made to order breakfast and full supper You order from the menu but it is included in the room price. I ate steak 2 of the 3 nights. They have a small bar with a pool table and a big covered porch with rocking chairs for after the ride!
