Have a great trip. We just got back (cage trip) from the Franklin, NC, area. Drove up to Asheville, Highlands, etc. Beautiful roads and weather.

Ice won't be an issue this early, but you definately need to pack some stuff to layer up if it turns "cool"...especially in the evenings.

Damn, I've got to get a bike soon or somebody is gonna get hurt!

cybermunster Like all ready coverd ,don't worry about ice this time of year and really for a 3 more months. Ground has to get cold first. I have left the house to ride up here in the teens if dry and salt free and most of the time ice ain't even a throught till late nov. in to dec. Check out " carolinamcevents" or "carolina motorcycle events" for ever thing MC related in n. carolina. You might find yourself moveing around .To much to see up here.
Get your self a western north carolina map when you get here, to many great back roads an also look to ride toward hotsprings, there are some great back roads going out of the maggie area like 276 then up 209. From Hot springs take 25/70 over into tenn and check out Barrbarosa's on the river. They do have cabins to rent .live music and food,, all biker there.

joeschmoe Your right ,we could see some 40's with a little luck. Be a real nice change.

I would not fret about any black ice. We got caught in the snow from Cherokee upto Gatlinburg earlier this year and really did not have any problems. Just take it slow. Have a great trip and take photos so we can oogle. Are you heading up I75 or I95 out of the Sunshine State?

Exclamation Secret of Mountain Weather

When you wanna know what the weather is in the WNC mountains, keep this in your bookmarks: http://www.raysweather.com/ This guy is a professor at Appalachian State and he gives some really accurate forecasts for the entire region. No one can predict mountain weather 100%, but this guy knows the temperatures, and has a lot of statistics backing him up on the forecasts. I work outside quite a bit, so I check him out regularly. Always be prepared for COLD RAIN from here on out. It was cool early this morning at 3600 ft. elevation and up, next week it will start getting more like fall on the Parkway and other mountaintops. Avoid Hwy 321 from Lenoir to Blowing Rock, we took it down to Blue Ridge HD this morning, it is a joke because of the construction!
Later,
MM

Default BRP info

The official site: http://www.nps.gov/blri/index.htm They cover a lot of info there, keep in mind Ray's Weather covers the counties the Parkway goes through. It's 56 this morning @ 3600 ft. near the 308 mile marker.

No, I don't think so. 441 goes from Cherokee down thru Dillsboro and Franklin. BRP doesn't go that way. I don't think BGP has a route number.
