It's a good ride but a lot of small towns with speed traps with sudden drops in speed limits. Very scenic through the hills great ride in the Fall.
You will enjoy it.

I live in eastern NY by the CT border and ride Rte 7 allot, the best riding is north of New Milford in Ct, there are covered bridges in Kent and Cornwall CT. Kent on the weekends the streets are lined with motorcycles, its very senic to the Mass border, in Mass Great Barrington is a nice town so is Stockbridge, once you get past Pittsfield Mass the the riding improves more senic and less traffic, all the way to the Vermont border. Bennington Vermont is a classic NE town with places to stop and eat. We always do this ride in the fall, then stop in Keene NH which is where my wife grew up.

My wife and I went up to Manchester, VT. to see her brother. We took Rte. 7 all the way. Very nice ride. We then took Rte. 30 over to NYto Rte. 22A over to Sr 74 which brings you to Ft. Ticonderoga. We crossed over Lake Champlain on a small ferry. We did this the week prior to Memorial Day so the fort was closed. We then took Rte. 9N down to Lake George. This road parellels Lake George. We continued down to Rte. 22 and back over to Rte. 6 into Danbury to go home to Fairfield. This is a really nice scenic 3 day trip.
