Route 191 in Wyoming
I'm taking a trip and I'll be a little pressed for time. I was thinking about taking Rt. 191 through Wyoming, from Utah to Montana. Does anyone know...
Is this a scenic route?
Is there a lot of traffic on 191?
Obviously, I'd like less traffic and more scenery.... Thanks for your help.

My sons are flying in to Denver. They only have four days to rent bikes. I'm riding my Sportster out from Wilmington, NC and meeting them in Denver. I'm open to any suggestions (except selling my Sportster and buying a bigger bike). All of us want to see Yellowstone. Here's the tentative 4-day trip from Denver we've planned:

Highway 191 above I-80 is pretty much a whole lotta nuttin if memory serves me correctly...I wouldn't pass up too many fuel opportunities...but, I believe there were a couple nice areas up thru there...Price Canyon comes to mind...nuttin overly dramatic, but a nice break from the tumbleweed country south of it. Like wyoming55 says...you'll make good time on 191.
The switchbacks outta Vernal aren't all that bad...and, I remember 'em only climbin outta Vernal up the mountain...IMO, Flaming Gorge is worth it.
Yer map shows 1670 miles...in 4 days...ain't gonna allow for much other than rollin on thru most of this scenery...and, ya can count on Yellowstone to be slow goin if yer there any time other than early mornin. If ya find yerself runnin short on time once ya get to Yellowstone, try headin out the east entrance and over to Cody, WY...the ride 'tween the east entrance and Cody is really nice. Then ya could start makin yer way down thru Thermopolis (hot springs) on yer way back to Denver...that should shave maybe 400 miles off.
