I was going to ask you about the snow. Warm clothes...check!

Agree with previous poster in Red Lodge, hit the Red Lodge Cafe meals are huge if having breakfast there get the combination with biscuits and gravy. You won't have to eat again all day.

Don't miss the Buffalo Bill Firearms Museum in Cody.

Are you camping or looking for motels/hotels?

I thought about doing the camping thing, but just too much to take on the bike and after riding a shower and bed sound good, no tent this time!

Finalized my plans today. Made a reservation in Red Lodge at the Yoddler Motel. From there we're going down Bear Tooth Notch and head up through Cooke City and take the North East entrance at Tower Junction into Yellowstone. From there we'll loop down South on Grand Loop Road and hit Old Faitful and spend the night at The Cody in Cody, WY. We'll spend the night there and take 14 through Gillette and back to Sturgis. It's about 1000 miles and we're going to take 3 days to do it. Day 2 is the shortest mileage wise but from talking to a friend, the Red Lodge/Cody loop we're doing it going to take quite a bit of time with stops and tourists durning the summer months so we'll have a long day 2. Can anyone add points of interest to check out along the way on this route?

Also, from Sturgis, we'l be taking Rt 212 to 90 into Billings and then Red Lodge. What's that 212 like? Is it a good riding road?

Lots of stuff in the Park. Just pull over when you see something you like. Everyone else does. Well, no, most folks forget to pull over, they just stop and gum up the traffic. You just have to remember: it's prolly the first time Velma and Vern in their big RV have seen a cow elk.

You can't really go wrong in the Park. But on the east side of the Park, Canyon, Dunraven Pass, and the Hayden Valley are just some of the best places there.

To save an hour coming from the Black Hills, take US 212 out of Belle Fourche (****. "bell foosh"). It will go straight to the Crow Res in MT and hit I-90 there and save you about 60-75 mins from I-90, which is notexactly a straight line in that region.

212 from Billings/Laurel is fine. It's only 40-45 mins or so.

Thanks for the reply. Besides Yellowstone. What are good stops along the way either from Sturgis or back home to Sturgis that are a good stop? Either a cool bar to stop for a drink or a good burger or just a good site to not miss along the way?
