Phoenix to Chicago 2000 miles Road Trip
#11
Hi you should post your question to the Mountain - Prairie of the Regional Events, Rides and Road Reports section. There is also an area called Southwest where there is a large group of "AZ Riders" from the Phoenix and Tucson, from what I read this to be a fun bunch!
Good luck and ride safe!

My recommendation would be to take 64E from Grand Canyon to 89N to 160E, hang a left at 163N at Kayenta, that'll take you through Monument Valley. Then take 261 North stopping at Goosenecks State Park, you'll go through Valley of the Gods, Moki Dugway and come out at 95. Then you can go a very short distance to the west and see Natural Bridges, make a U-turn and take 95 South (actually heading east), to Blanding where you can catch 191N and stop at Canyonland and Arches National Parks. Hang a right at Moab on 128E to I-70 over to 40W (actually heading North), take 34E through Rocky Mountain National Park and then from the east side of the park you have several options. I'm planning a similar trip in early June and will cover most of that same territory. Done all these roads before and the scenery is awesome.
Sorry I couldn't get my link to work to show this on Google Maps.

sorry i had not considered you had not ridin in rain very often
it like jumpimng in a pool its only crazy for a few minutes
do allow for extra room and slow down on curves until u get your confidence up
Being from the midwest its an every other day occuarnce
windshields can get foggy make sure it is the correct hieight to see over in the rain
i find when storm starts coming pull over and change before it hits putting rain cloths over wet stuff dont do much good
