Smile Travel in northern Minnesota ???

This year, instead of going to Sturgis for the umteenth time again, considering a trip thru northern Minnesota August 6- 7- 8 - 9 and avoiding the crowds. No intention of getting near Mpls/St Paul area.

Anyone have a list of good points of interest to see, places to eat, camp out or motels available, places to avoid, etc. ? Thanks!!!

If you get far enough north to the Duluth area, then you need to take the hwy along Lake Superior. It goes to the border. Nice places to stop along the way.
I hear the rest of the trip around the lake into Canada is a must see but I've not made that trek yet. Maybe someday.

We did the Duluth trip last year. Went up the Wisconson side one day and the Minn. side of the lake the next. I will make that trip again. Very nice.

Bemidji MN. Headwaters of the Mississippi River. Kind of cool. You can walk across it at Lake Itasca. Take Bug Spray.

If you go to Grand Rapids, MN home page you'll find 4 motorcyle loops - Avenue of the Pines, Southern Ramble, 100 Lake Tour, and Off the Beaten Path. Beautiful country....
