Memphis to N.O. - which route?

Cowboy, sorry I did not see one of your questions on security at casino hotels. I have found that most of the casino's have very good security and much better than other hotels, they have to because of their buisness. Most will allow you or have facilities close to the hotel entrance. Ask when you check in if you can park your bike near the entrance, I've found most will accomodate this request. A suggestion on staying at casino hotels, if at all possible stay during the week, the weekend rates can be pretty expensive. Much more than I'm willing to pay. I have stayed in Vicksburg (lately been going up to Tunica) for some time, so I cannot help on the current price or availability, suggest you go on-line and check rates, ect. and make reservations at least the day before.
Panomine, what part of Mississippi. We travel to the Coast pretty often and also to Mcomb, Port Gibson and Brookhaven to eat.

Andouille, I live up in north Ms. Around Winona/Greenwood area. We ride up the Trace to Tupelo, or down it to Jxn. a good bit. I've riden to work several times last summer, oilfield trash outta Boothville, so it's a pretty kool ride both ways. I try to mix it up a little on the way home, in the daylight and all...I-55 bores the HELL outta me

Panomine, I've been through the area many times. In fact before the market went south, we were looking a moving around this area, S/E Louisiana where I live is just not the same since Katrina. Agree with you 55 is boring, besides I only take interstates when time is a factor. Take care and safe riding, be especially careful from south of the lake, we have the worst drivers in the world.

You guys have been a great help, thank you. It looks like Hwy 61 is going to win.
I figure the route as follows:
Stop at Charles Vergo's Rendezvous Charcoal Ribs for dinner as we go thru Memphis.
Motel 6 for the night in Horn Lake.
Sleep late, and then hit the Horn Lake Harley dealer.
Down Hwy 61 to Clarksdale, probably lunch at Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club.
Meander on 61, stop for a photo of Po Monkey's Juke Joint.
Continue with a leisurely ride into Vicksburg for the night.
Visit the battlefield the next morning.
Continue to N.O. after stopping at Mindenoff's in Manchau for catfish.
Couple of more questions if I might.
Andouille, do you have the address of Mindenoffs?
And we usually stay at Motel 6's, but could you guys recommend one of the Casino/Hotel to stay at in Vicksburg (motorcycle safe parking is the most important).
Thanks again guys.

The Inn is a converted cotton gin. They also have "shotgun" houses that have been moved there and refurbished. Their "Limo" is a 1973? Cadillac.

If you are staying in Vicksburg, the "Ameristar" casino is biker friendly and has a killer buffet.
If I can help with anymore questions, let me know.
While this close you need to see our new Ms. River bridge being built in Greenville, Ms. It's a miniature Golden Gate...
