Take your time and you'll have a great trip. I've done the round-trip 3 times myself on the same 97 fxdwg and its fine. If you're thinking, "Should I stop for this picture?" STOP and enjoy it!!
Whoever mentioned that all of the gas stations shown aren't necessarily still open really knew what they were talking about. Gas up whenever you get the opportunity.
