How far have you ridin your Heritage?

Longest time in the saddle w/ just gas and meal breaks was 36hrs (1500 miles) coming back from Canada to NJ. Most of it in the rain.
I ran with the stock Heritage seat but had my tourpak in solo mode which was a great help with back support. I have lower back issues and didn't really start hurting bad till I got back in NJ.
Wife and I have plans to ride to Sturgis in 2010 which is around 1800 miles. Wife will be riding her Deluxe.
Your Heritage will take you anywhere.

Back in '96 I rode my '88 Heritage to Sturgis and back from here near Chicago.
The next year I bought a Road King.
The newer (balanced) Softails ride a little nicer. I broke down and bought a new one again in 2005, but I still keep a Road King in the garage along with my Softail and Shovel for the longer trips.

From Superior, WI to The gulf coast
My 10 year old boy and I rode two laners along the Mississippi river from it's headwaters in Minnesota to the gulf. We did it on my 07 Heritage with a Sturgis T-Bag on the back. Great trip. No plan other than to reach the gulf. No reservations, camped when we could, hoteled when we had to. Came back up the Natchez Trace parkway. Greatest ride of my life. hope to do the Pony Express this year.

2006 Vegas-Salt Lake City-Jackson, WY-Red Lodge-Sturgis-Denver-Vegas in about 13 days. Made the trip to Red Lodge from Vegas with one guy from Mexico and three folks on two bikes from Louisiana. There was a Toyota pickup with a trailer (which came in handy a couple of times - for some of the others) and typically the other riders stripped down their bikes and trailered all their luggage. I elected to keep my pack on unless we were riding out of a hotel (Red Lodge, Tetons, etc.).
I have to add that it was a wise decision when the pack got separated in Gillette, WY on the way into Sturgis. The chase truck (with everyone ELSE'S luggage) and two of the bikes got behind us and stuck in a hail storm and I was the only one that had my $hit once we got into Sturgis!!!
On the way home (riding solo...GAWD I love it) my Legends air suspension went to crap and I had to overnight in Denver at a buddies house. Stripped off the Legends and put a set of stock shocks on from my buddy's Fat Boy, then rode out of Denver at noon on a Sunday and got into Vegas about 2AM Monday morning.
Don't be afraid to put your Heritage on the road. I've got a Road King and have taken two-week rides on her as well. I'd do either one in a heartbeat.
By the way, the photo is at Bear Lake which sits in the corner of UT-ID-WY. I'm the one that WASN'T riding an '03! Note the tour bag strapped on the back!

San Diego to Sturgis via Sedona thru Durango and Cheyanne. 1506 miles in 3 days. on my 05 HC. Only concern was my a$$. Needed a better seat. Used the t bag for support. Helped lots. Best ride of my life so far. Actually after the 3rd day I wasn't so sore. Maybe it's because I was in STURGIS!!
Just ride and enjoy.

Trip on a Heritage
Well, I'll let you know. leaving from Las Vegas mid May heading to FL then to PA then returning back by way of WI (have to see the museum) to SD then Yellowstone then home. A total of about 6,500 miles. Looking to take about 3 weeks. I have done long trips before but on a RK and found out 450 + or- miles per day is my limit. I did get a backrest for the heritage, though. I found one at firehousecustoms.com bolts onto the two seat bolts and seems to give good support. I only got it last week and haven't given it a good workout yet. Good luck and as the others have said "just do it"!
