Doc, the Parkway was still closed shortly after Mt Mitchell, although I turned off on Hwy 80 before I got there and rejoined it in Asheville. Wish I had the time to go to Mt Mitchell - it's been a few years since I have been there, and the day was so crisp and clear that the view must have been incredible!
Wow, what a fantastic write up and pics of your ride on the BRP!! I must say, I've ridden the Parkway many, many times and your write up was amazing. I'm glad to see others that love the BRP just as much as I do. GREAT job!!
I envy you. Great place to live I'm sure. One day I hope to be your neighbor.
It is a great place to live. However, we are just like you. We can't wait to go somewhere else for a change of scenery, at least every now and then. As far as the BRP goes, I usually don't go up there but about once a year. Personally, I hate to ride on it..........It does make for a pretty pic, though....LOL.
Pastor John,
Great report. We did the trip S. to N. in the fall , no bike but a 2001 Corvette. We enjoyed the countrry so much that we bought some acreage just outside of Asheville. We are planning on retiring there in March. Thanks again for the great story.
