Default Up to the mountains

Last weekend, the kids were out for a couple of weeks, so my wife and I deceided to leave the Paris suburb to get some fresh and pure air.
L'auvergne, a very nice french county, famous for its volcanos.
We leaved saturday morning at 07:45 AM and arrived at 12 AM, 400 kilometers of highway later. (250 miles).
Then We only took small roads where you have to pray to do not cross a truck !!!!
We stopped saturday evening at a nice hotel for a good dinner and night, after more than 660 kilometers, in a day. (about 415 miles).
Sunday morning, we have to wake up early because we have still a very long journey to make...
We climbed up to 1451 meters and had the fresh and pure air we came for...
Then we stopped for a groovy lunch in a small village very well known for his famous french cheese, called Saint Nectaire.
Then, it was 02:00 PM and time to go back home.
I didn't want to take the highway but only secondary roads and scenic routes to go back.
We arrived at 07:45 PM .
1200 kilometers (750 miles) in 2 days for a very nice weekend !!!
My 1997 XL has now 191 000 kilometers (almost 120 000 miles) and still runs perfectly !!!

Here are some pics :

Great pics. Probably the only way I will ever see that part of the world.

great pics, looks like a beautiful part of the country. May be a better destination than the Valley of La Loire on the bike - that was my current target for next summer.

Those are really good pics. France is so beautiful. I like the quaint towns and castles. Hope to take my wife there some day.

You also have very nice mountains in the US.
