Default Apostle Islands?

Anyone ridden to the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior? Thinking of heading up this summer and taking the ferry to spend the night on the big island but would like to know if it is Harley-friendly, etc?

Thanks!

I've been there multiple times, Not much to do on Madeline Island. It wouldn't take very long to circle the island on a Harley. The town is about four blocks long. A few gift shops, a few hotels and some private homes for rent. there is a state park there. It is mostly geared towards the boating crowd. Nice marina we've moored at, It's a very low key place.

It's a great place to spend a night or two. There are two nice campgrounds w/sandy beaches, condos, a moteland plenty of houses or cabins to rent. You won't see very many bikes out there, but everyone I have met is biker friendly or just plain friendly. There is a weekend in June in which a bunch of bikers camp out over the weekend, not sure what group. There are a few good restaurants and if you are there on the weekend there is usually some great live music. Also, if you like live music, check out the Big Top Chattaquajust outside of Bayfield. I have seen BB King, Greg Brown and John Prine there, it's an absolute fantastic setting. On the island, check out Tom's burned Down Cafe, that's the place I tend to hang out when I go out to the island, whether by bike or boat. I have been going over there for 18yrs, I really enjoy it. Just remember you are on an island, things take a little longer than you a probably used to. Have fun if you go!
