I do need to figure out what to do with my pistol in California, I believe I'm good to carry everywhere else.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I drive between Central Texas and Central California fairly often. I did a lot of research before the first time since I'm not a fan of jail cells. Here is a link explaining the requiremnts

Here's a snip of the website

This is the lockable storage box I use for my gun/magazine

Idaho Cops will stop you, pull you off your bike, slam you to the ground. Cuff you put you in their trunk and haul you off to the boonies. They will use your bike for target practice.
Don’t go to Idaho if you live in California.
My kid lives in Idaho. I ride up there a few times a year from SoCal. I've never had trouble with cops BUT... took her house hunting last year. We were walking around a place when the neighbor pulled out of their driveway so I flagged them down to talk about the property. Nice folks. I asked why the place had been for sale for so long (something like 5 weeks). They said it was overpriced. At $350K for a fair sized house, I commented on how being from California, it seemed down right inexpensive. The passenger in the car went nuts on me, cursing all Californians for driving up their prices and ruining the state. As they drove off my kid told me, "Dad, you cannot tell people here you are from California." Life lesson learned.

As always, great advice on roads to travel and sites to see. I have a planned road-trip for next summer through the northwestern states (MT, ID, WA, OR).

I'll be coming across the top, down the coast to the northern CA redwoods, than zig-zag a bit over through OR and ID to Yellowstone.

With a FL plate...

In section 5 does that mean that someone from out of state can not carry a pistol even when locked in separate locations when just traveling thru the state?
For example if I had my pistol locked in one saddle bag and the ammo in the other while just traveling thru the state would this be legal in Ca?

That's the way I read it, but I've never had to put it to the test.
