Default Vermont/New Hampshire

I’m planning a trip soon to spend a few days in Vermont than will be heading to New Hampshire. I’m looking for suggestions on roads to ride in both states. Really looking for some nice curvy off the beaten path roads. Haven’t done too much riding in Vermont but did ride smugglers notch road last year, and some surrounding roads. I’ve done mt Washington auto road Kangamangus,Hurricane Mountain Road and some others but would really like to hear some other suggestions(will travel into Maine also). Thanks in advance Justin

Take a look at the Kancamagus highway in NH. It's a short ride ( less than 50 miles) with curves, streams, and waterfalls to enjoy.

I rode through New Hampshire and Vermont back in early June. I was not impressed with the roads in Vermont but in Mew Hampshire the roads were in better condition and the scenery was nice.

Our summer trip in 2023 was to the White Mountains. We stayed in Franconia NH and rode around the area for a few days. Beautiful and lots of great hikes. Vermont is okay, they’ve had a lot of flooding near St. Johnsbury. Another part of NH/VT we did a few years prior was around Woodstock. Some good rides around Lake Champlain as well, lots of historic sites like Fort Ticonderoga.

Given the current ( and recent ) rain damage, I'd be checking out routes that are closed ( major detours ) ... I've been up there when it was very hard to get around ... Good Luck

I’m a little concerned with the recent flood damage, hopefully they didn’t get too flooded. The above suggestions look pretty good, I’ll have to give a try. Planning on heading up there next week so hopefully the weather holds 🤞

We were up that way about 4 weeks ago. We went north through NYS, Cooperstown to Lake George then landing at Wilmington NY and Whiteface Mountain, nice road to the top followed by a short hike to summit. Next day rode to Plattsburgh to take ferry to Vermont, fun boat ride, Then we rode East on side roads finally hooking up with NH Route 2, all the way east staying north of Mt Washington until we got to 16, then south to Mt Washington. Also did that Auto road, much more interesting and a longer ride, they day we went 90 degrees at the bottom, 60 at the summit. Stayed up there, next day down to the Weirs, way hot spent the afternoon in the lake.

All nice riding up that way and cooled off every night good luck.

Nice ride! I am looking to do something very similar in August. Probably week of the 26th-30th. Then heading down to Bristol RI for a daughter visit at law school. Which is less than 1 1/2 hours from New London Ferry and back home on L.I.
