Happy trails!!
The Redwoods are one of my favorite riding places, then HWY 1 from Leggett to PT Reyes with an overnight stop in Mendocino.

What you riding? cruise control helps a lot
THIS! It's essential to long trips for me. I try and get off the bike at least every 2 hours. A stop for gas, food etc.....

At 63 it's certainly becoming an issue for me. Our first ride this year is relatively short, under 1000 miles and split into several days. Taking breaks often. My worst problem these days is my hips, they're often sore although I found that when traveling in stop and go city traffic they actually loosened up a bit with repetitive use. Another problem is some arthritis in my knees although that hasn't bothered me much so far this year. Even at 6' 1" the Ultra Limited is a big bike and requires some stretch.

We've decided that from here on out our rides will just have to be more leisurely.

You guys with the joint issues might try taking collagen & glucosamine with msm, and stay away from foods that cause inflammation as much as you can.

Those things plus light exercise most days with a focus on keeping all your muscle groups activated will make you feel a whole lot better.

68 in July. My riding buddy is 66. We usually ride about 150 miles and then gas, etc. Sometimes I am crawling off the bike before I can limber up. We ride 300 - 600 a day depending on the roads.

We did the Redwoods last year. They are amazing. That trip was 8400 miles. Great trip.

This year MI, WI in August and TN, NC mountains in October.

I've been taking Flex Guard for a while now and I do believe it helps. Then I've got a tube of Diclofenac Sodium cream that I've used on my knees occasionally on long multi-day cross country rides. Yesterday I rolled my bicycle around, aired up the tires and cleaned it up a bit. I'm going to see if riding that around some might help loosen and limber me up a bit.

At 61, last year I did Laconia to Sturgis (Spearfish). We did 1,100 + miles a day. We left Sunday 4 AM and arrived at our Airbnb in Spearfish at around 7:30 PM on Monday. Was I sore, yes! What helped me was a 10MG 420 Indica gummy right b4 bed. Woke up refreshed and ready to go. Only thing that slowed me down was a flat @10:00 AM Monday morning in Minnesota. We were back on the road by 11:30 AM and still made it into Spearfish Monday night. Do I recommend everyone ride like that? Absolutely not. We went home and did it in 3 days as the first day involved a pit stop at Wall drug store and a ride through the bad lands. Going from 1,100 + miles a day to 700 + miles a day felt like a picnic. The other two riders were 43. They "bitched" more about feeling sore than I did. :-) Went to Daytona this year with the bride and five other couples. Yes were the oldest. We're 62 now. Trailered the bikes and averaged about 200 miles a day riding. Felt like a cake walk :-) My dream ride is Laconia to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It is about 3,500 miles each way with a ferry ride. I am going to shoot for doing it in 5 years. I will be retired with plenty of time on my hands. One of the 44yo dudes is up for it. If I make it happen I will pot in here and solicit others if they'd like to accompany us. So mark your calendars for 2029 :-)
