Mustang rally is pretty cool.

Best thing about Sturgis in Sept. is half priced tee shirts

I was going to suggest Keystone. Hill City is right there too. Staying down in that area would put you within reach of The Devil's Tower in Wyoming but that'd probably be your longest ride. 106A is IMO the best road in that area. most twisties, best scenery, and Rushmore is right there.

In Keystone, you may want to checkout Powder House. Ben runs the place.

As far as staying in 1 place, that is what I did a few times.

EVERYTHING IMO is in easy riding distance.

And RGST, what you are doing is what I did. 2 wks before or after "Sturgis", is when I would go. That way, I get to RIDE! And LOTs of it.

Have fun mate and bring back PIXs.

You are in for an awesome time.

BuzzCap7 thank you! Actually doing a trip starting tomorrow to Maggie Valley North Carolina to ride the dragon and all those great roads in that area next week. I was in Deadwood last year in a cage and every time I saw a bike I wished I had rode mine 😁.
The cool thing about this site is that you can have an idea, ask a question and everyone here gives great advice. That’s awesome!

Excellent suggestion. And you can get off your bike at the end of the day and walk the shops or to a restaurant and relax. You get a nice Black Hills Environment there to relax in.

I was just there at the end of July, 2 weeks before the rally, and stayed in Keystone at the Boardwalk Inn for 3 nights - nice room for < $100 per night. Keystone is pretty much in the middle and it is an easy ride out to devils tower west or badlands np / Wall to the east.

This was my first time to the area, but as mentioned the early morning will be cold. It was 48 the day I left to head home. September I would expect to be colder.

Just got back from my trip there and stayed at the Keystone Inn Room 110 right beside the little creek. What a cool town and the riding was awesome. Thanks for the suggestion
