My group usually rides to the Adirondack Natls car show in Lake George NY in Sept..but this year its Delmarva Bike week in Delaware.. 9-15-07. Never been there.. Any info .. or recommendations appreciated. Is it worth going.. where to ride.. what to see etc! Thanks Nick

 

Lots of info available on their website, www.delmarvabikeweek.com. It's becoming a huge event, bikes everywhere. We go every year, well worth the trip. We're staying at the Sea Bay Hotel, great location and great rates. You'll have a wonderful time.

 

I try not to miss it. There is lots to do an see.

 

Just make sure you go to Ocean City, Maryland because that's where DELMARVA Bike Week is, not in Delaware.

 

Went there last year, rode in the rain for 3 days. Sunday was nice weather to go home in. This year it's gonna be great ! See you at the StowawayGrand ! Even in the rain it was good.

Went in 2004 and had a pretty good time, the pin ride is fun. One thing we noticed is that alot of the attendees trailer to Ocean City from 2-3 hours away. The ones we talked to were amazed that we rode from Ohio.

 

Yes I was guilty trailering it 4 hours.... but the wife is new to the two up thing ....

 

Hi, I guess you could consider me a "local" since we live 60 miles from Ocean City, Md. They use to have the event at one location but it got too big and was causing congestion for traffic. Last year (2008) they split it up into about four different locations including Seaford Delaware HD, O.C. Maryland HD, Winterplace (on RT 50 between Salisbury & O.C.) and a place in west O.C. near the Sunset Grille. Looks like they dropped the west O.C. location and moved it to Seacrets. You may want to hit the Seaford HD Dealer (especially if you are coming down Rt13 South and will passing right by it) but the big action will be at the other three locations.

This event typically attracts 100,000 people so it's a big deal! Don't miss it. Hopefully the rain we have been having EVERY DAY in Maryland will be a thing of the past.

Touchy, touchy. Wow, did we forget DELMARVA stands for Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. That is to say, the penninsula South of the Pa. state line to the Chessy bay.
As already stated, the event does now encompass the Salisbury area and the Seaford, Delaware Harley shop. Ocean City, (read that, city fathers), would actually prefer the bike event go somewhere else. But, there are a few bar and hotels that know it's a money maker and have some vendors in their lots. But, just for the sake of arguement, officially, it has never been IN Ocean City.

To the OP: Yes, it's worth the time. The DELMARVA coastline is a great sight and has many interesting and historical points. Don't expect much in the way of hill riding. There really aren't any. But there are some great places to ride and the Ocean City area is all about summer fun and party times.

 

I live down on the shore , it is a good time , spread out the last year from Ocean City HD to Seaford DE , Winter Place Park in Salisbury Md , lots of places to eat and drink , weather is mostly good that time of year , Francis Scott Key Hotel on the right just before the Ocean City bridge on RT 50 coming in is one of the host Hotels or has been . To be safe book it ahead. Come on down and have some fun.
