BBQ is actually expense to produce compared to many foods.
I have had great , average and bad BBQ. It’s very personal to one’s flavor. I’ve had it in TX, NV, TN, KY, SC , VA, NC… everyone’s is an experience. Honestly,I like Baby back ribs the best or a thick juicy pork chop just as good. Good food is good food and I love to sample all of it. I’ve been blessed to eat some of the best foods in the world… I will keep on sampling. As a transplanted French Canadian redneck,…

Even rarer is one from Cary (unless they were born after IBM got here in the mid ’60’s)

I married one of the former. An aborigine, as it were.

Default The Wood Box BBQ

We tried this BBQ joint in Jonesville, NC. It's right at the Yadkin River which separates Jonesville and Elkin on Hwy 67.

Would I go back? Yes, but I was a little disappointed in my selection. The Carolina Girl had a chopped tray and she loved it. The couple next to us had the half chicken and ribs and they were very pleased.

I ordered sliced BBQ and was expecting sliced pork butt BBQ. This was pork loin. It was good, but no where as good as pork loin I prepare at home on the Recteq and I felt I was short changed.

Seeing all the great places you have to ride and the BBQ places reminds me I should have moved there years ago. I have family in S.C., so I really don't have much excuse.

You are in luck, we are still taking people from Texas.

PA, OH and NY are currently banned! LOL

Come on down and I’ll pick up the tab on a BBQ feast.

Default Chimney Rock Smoke House

A perfect 10 on a scale to 10.

This was our first time eating here. The service and staff was excellent.

The Carolina Girl went with a pulled pork sandwich and I had a half rack of ribs. The table next to us ordered first and had three appetizers and they all looked very good.

Our meal came out quickly and looked delicious. I knew we had a winner as soon as the Carolina Girl took a bite and I saw the expression on her face.

The ribs were fork eating tender with great flavor. I especially liked their sauce.

We ate inside and they have a pass through window at the bar for the customers eating outside. There was a one band playing a mix of songs from the 70's and 80's who was really good.

We would definitely go back.

I’ve got a riding buddy who actually lives on the backside of the mountain that Chimney Rock is located on. I need to get back up there and harass him. He likes to drink beer at the Tiki Bar at Geneva Riverside Lodging. Not swanky and definitely bike friendly. Local crowd. I think the tourists are skeered. LOL
Thanks for the good review CR.

We tried to stay there last night! They had a two night minimum so we landed at Carter Lodge next door. It is fully renovated and a super nice owner. Great view off our balcony of the creek and Chimney Rock. We love this little town.
