I rode this Great River Rd on the west side of the river in Mississippi and Arkansas DO NOT DO IT in these states, we hit a Swamp and then the road turned into farm land at one point !! took us 75 miles out of the way only to turn around and come back

 

They are having road construction on the Wisconsin side of the river from Genoa to La Crosse. The detour will take you quite a way east. Might want to run the Iowa side from Lansing to La Crosse..
