Mark… one of my bucket list rides is to start in Quebec in the beginning of October & chase the colours South all the way to Atlanta… but I would need three months… A month to get to the East Coast… A month in the changing trees… And a month to get home via Texas and the Pacific Coast Highway… I figure I could do it in 12 weeks nicely

.. of course one of the great motivators is that there’s a steak waiting for me on the ride…😂

That would be an awesome ride and I would love to join you a day or three.

Steak, I love steak! Anyway I can get in on that? Sorry if you already mentioned it. I have a short memory!

Default Pre-Pig SHINDIG

The Carolina Girl and I rode out Thursday early evening east bound on the 64. We rolled over the mighty Yadkin and stopped in the BBQ Capital of the World!

Yeah, the 39th Annual BBQ Festival is back in Lexington, NC tomorrow, Saturday October 28th.

BBQ, bands, vendors, BBQ, games, BBQ, more bands and if I forgot to mention there will be a lot of BBQ.

Almost as good as the BBQ is the sunny 80 degree weather!

Thursday evening was the big kickoff which they call “Pre-Pig Shindig” at the AMP.

We arrived at 5:15pm and got excellent parking and a table. There were a couple of hundred people by 5:30 and I estimate close to a thousand before it ended. The weather was perfect, the food was good and the music was spectacular.

Starting us off was Jim Quick and the Coastline. If you like beach music, you will love these guys. There were dozens of couples ********!

They played until 6:45pm, there was 15 minutes between bands for setup and the legendary OTB, On The Border, Eagles tribute band hit the stage until 8:30pm.

These guys rocked the town. WOW, I have not heard them in person before. They are GREAT.

There was a Budweiser distributor onsite with $5.00 beers. We each had one prior to grabbing a bite to eat.

During the event we enjoyed some street tacos from one of the local restaurants that had a food truck on the property. There were many other food vendors including Domino’s.

A few shots from the evening:

We rolled out just a few minutes before it ended to beat traffic with 25 miles of rural two lane to travel at night. We did cut through downtown Mocksville and were surprised to see three bikes still at The Station on a Thursday at 9pm.

What a great time with the Carolina Girl. She had such a great time and that did me a lot of good.

I failed to mention that entry was gained by donating 5 cans of food to the Pastor’s Pantry.

Total trip mileage was 49.2.

It was a beautiful full moon last night. I only got bright lighted three times coming home with the Cali Moto Baja’s.

Looks like a great time. Jim Quick and Coastline are one of our favorites. Pic from a few weeks ago at the NC Seafood Festival in Morehead City.

How are things in the foothills my friend?

I was comfortable with this truck. They have brick and mortar restaurants that are very good. I eat at the one in Kernersville from time to time.
