Default October Fall Colors Ride 2023

Fall Colors ride continued:

Above 3500 feet the temps really dropped off. We were comfortable, but I switched on the heated seat and heated grips. They added a nice level of comfort.

We rode up to Doughton Park, made a U-Turn and came back to Freebornes for lunch.

At the 3700-foot mark the winds came back and were easily 15-18 mph.

Given to BRP road closures I have been very pleased with the support that the restaurant at Doughton Park has received. Their #2 and #3 park areas were just about full today.

Default Fall Colors Ride 2023 Continued

Continued:

It's lunch time, and if you follow us, you know we like Freebornes!

When we arrived, there were a dozen cars, two Sheriff vehicles and 6 motorcycles. It was packed inside, and we got the last table. We were a little late and it started clearing out quickly before we got our food.

We love Diane and all the staff there. They do a great job, and the food is always very good.

There were several bikes stopping in and leaving out. One guy was on an old Honda 350 that was converted to an adventure style bike.

Default Pro Action Suspension

Pro Action Suspension ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

The Blue Ridge Parkway is in sad condition. It's nice having suspension that just allows you to enjoy the ride and not constantly be weaving around to avoid all the bumps.

The total mileage for Sunday on the BRP was 140.4 miles.

Thanks for riding along.

Great photos! Looks like some nice color developing on the Parkway and at higher elevations. Wife and I arrived at our destination north of Asheville yesterday and got settled in. Looking to ride all week with great weather. No specific ride plan...just wherever the adventure leads us.

You could not have picked a better time. This week looks beautiful weather wise. Based out of Asheville you'll be able to get to every elevation easily. The colors seem to be a little slow turning this year. Or maybe I'm just trying to rush them! LOL

Enjoy

As we drove down from Ohio we found the best foliage color to be in southern Kentucky and across Virginia. At Norton, VA the tree colors were almost incredible. We noticed decreasing color as we passed thru TN and into NC, though the colors did pick up about 20 miles north of Weaverville. If experience tells me anything, there will be enough beauty at higher elevations to make the ride worthwhile. I need to check for BRP road conditions out of Asheville however. Will we pass you on the road this week?

Looks like a great ride. Wish we could have joined you, we were at the beach snaking out a clogged sewer line.

Ruined a flannel shirt. Sad day. But got the $h!t pipe back functioning. We had a bunch of ladies staying at our beach house, they use lots of TP.

I said a prayer for that shirt. Hopefully it was not also your rain gear.
