New Years Day Ride 2023
That stinks, but like you I would not ride with that crap on the roads.
It was extremely foggy here this morning. There was a light mist and the roads were wet. We missed the Crossroads HD Frosty ***** ride and also missed out Hog Chapter ride. I was not going to get the bike all dirty. Finally the sun came out about two hours later than promised and we rolled out at 2pm on Belinda and had the stereo blasting!
Total trip mileage for New Years was 52.3 miles. Not bad, and far from the best.
We went to Tanglewood and enjoyed Thai food for a late lunch. Then we stopped at the old Win-Mock Dairy barns.
When we returned home I broke out the DD and shot 23 rounds of 556 to celebrate 2023
Happy New Year

2nd Ride in 2023
I’ve ridden every day so far in 2023! LOL
The Carolina Girl went back to work today, but I’m still off. I was accused in another thread of being a “Fair Weather Rider”. No problem, certainly true today. I waited until 3pm when the roads were dry and the sun was shining and went out solo for a couple of hours on Belinda.
Check out this gasoline price. Yeah I paid less for 93 than for 87 octane. I can only assume they are overstocked on 93 and cut the price.

Yeah I didn’t think about that! Actually there used to be another digit before the 29.
That station is only a couple of miles from our house. It used to be very busy and a hang out for older retired farmers from the area. One week day a guy came in with a knife. He killed one guy and stabbed two others. The owner who was stabbed died a few months later. It never reopened after that. It’s been closed now at least 20 years. It was probably $1.29 per gallon!

11 Day Ride - 120th Anniversary Milwaukee
Harley 120th Anniversary Ride
The Carolina Girl and I learned our daughter and son-in-law would be in the Milwaukee area during the 120th anniversary celebration. We began planning and just returned from an 11-day ride that took us through 10 states with a total of 2,131 miles.
Our travels started on Saturday July 8th and took us out of NC on I-77 North into Virginia to West Virginia. Our first stop was at the New River Gorge Bridge. We have ridden over it before but this time we stopped to check it out and explore the area. It is a spectacular sight and I’ll warn you that if traveling the winding road down to the river and under the bridge there are a couple of very tight right-hand switchbacks from a stop, and one left hand. They are a challenge with a passenger and loaded with gear.
Following the visit, we continued Hwy 60 over to the Gauley where we had a BBQ lunch. Our travels took us to Charleston, WV with a stop at the HD dealership and on into Ohio where we stayed the night in Jeffersonville, Ohio.
Thank you, Lord, for a great first day. Our stop at the New River Gorge Bridge helped us to miss a bad thunderstorm that moved through Ohio prior to our arrival.
Day #1 of 11 = 412 Miles

Day #2 Continued
Following the tour of the speedway we went down to a local restaurant just walking distance from the track and had a good meal before hitting the road hard into Illinois.
We did not get to ride around the track on our tour because Lexus was there with their customer driving challenge.
Our travels took us into the windmill and corn farms. Beautiful country.
Our final stop for day #2 was in Galesburg, IL. This is a very nice little college town, and I can highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express. It was an excellent stay there.
Mileage for Day #2 = 417.7
