That is Hwy 221 you see down in the mountain. I get on right at the BRP at Lin Cove and run it south toward Blowing Rock. Either way and it is fantastic!

Back at Freebornes for the second time this weekend.
Love the ride into Banner Elk. 194? Can't remember but one route is so so while the other is nice and twisty.

Yes I have it in BOLD up on post 755. It was a very nice road to ride either direction.
Take note here folks as this is a “MUST DO” road if in the area. We leaned left onto Hwy 194 to Banner Elk. This is a fantastic road with some intense uphill/downhill switch backs depending on your direction of travel.
With my trans-Siberia/Europe plan for next year gone pretty much Kaputski because of the Ukraine war… I will revisit my idea of heading to the East Coast and then running all the way to Atlanta next fall to immerse myself in the changing of the trees… If so, it would include tagging the rest of the Canadian provinces and the remainder of the lower 48…
… what do you think Jeff?? I could pop by your place on the way by and pick you up … and we could head out to the East Coast, and then work our way down to Marks place… After all, he does owe me a steak… and it’s not like your doing anything anymore…

This thread was on page 4, and last post was April 26th. I have some catching up to do on a couple of good rides we’ve enjoyed. We rode to the OBX in May for our anniversary and stayed this time on Roanoke Island. We had no idea what a treasure this location is.
Next our rolling Thunder chapter led 8 Freightliner “Ride for Pride” semi’s from the plant in Cleveland, NC to Jacksonville, NC for the Memorial Day celebration.
I’ll go into more details on these two rides later. But here are a few teaser pictures until:
