9th Annual Uwharrie Mountain Rumble
The Carolina Girl and I enjoy doing charity rides. Checking out the Full Throttle Cruisin Calendar we found this ride and decided to give it a try. The ride down was just over an hour and a half and we got a late start and had to book it to get there in time. As we rode in it was obvious this is a popular ride. There were over 100 bikes and over 200 people registered when we signed in and bikes still coming in behind us.
There was the local Police department and two Sherriff offices to handle traffic and lead the ride. At 1:15pm they had a riders meeting and at 1:30pm sharp we rolled!
It was announced that the first planned stop is cancelled because the location will not be able to handle the large turnout of bikes. The planned final stop was River Wild on Lake Tillery. If you back up a few posts you will see where I ate there Friday before last with two of my riding buddies. I knew that would be another problem they had not planned on with this huge crowd. Always a blessing to see this many people turn out, but very hard to plan for.
The first few miles was at a pretty swift pace. Once we were all out and the group was together the pace slowed. There was a patrol car leading the group, a patrol care in the back and two motor officers blocking. They did a very good job and the group rode well together. We were amazed that one hour and thirty minutes in we were still riding and had a good distance to travel tot the last stop. Knowing that I did not want to get in a mess at River Wild we pulled out of the group at a major intersection and headed toward Albemarle. I stopped at a gas station for a quick break and to check out restaurants.
We scored big time finding "Five Points Public House" which is an old Pontiac dealership from back in the day. Both the food and service were excellent! It is definately on our list for a return visit.
Following a late lunch / early dinner we rode over to Morrow Mountain State Park and enjoyed the views. The Carolina Girl had not been there before and she enjoyed the views. Then it was time to head back home. We arrived back home around 7pm with 196 miles on the clock. We really enjoyed our day together.
Belinda our 21 SGS was the bike of choice and she ran strong all day. The Carolina Girl loves the Saddleman seat, loves the new rear suspension and loves me! She thanks me for such a wonderful day and safe travels.
Enjoy the pictures.

Easter Sunday 4-17-2022 BRP
I feel bad for you guys still dealing with winter weather. So allow me to rub it in a little!
Today is got up to 73 degrees. We rolled out around 1pm heading North toward the foothills. At Wilkesboro, NC we jumped on Hwy 18 and went up the mountain toward the Blue Ridge Parkway.
When we crossed the summit and into Allegheny County the temperature dropped 7 degrees instantly. We rolled into Freebornes and there were about a dozen bikes there, one mini bike and a rail type dune buggy.
We were great s by a big smile from Diane. Nice to see here again for the first time this year, I think. Cheryl has not returned to work and we miss her. We enjoyed a nice meal, watched bikes come and go, watched all the sports on television doing heard a few tales.
Man those onion rings were delicious!
We rolled out and went North on the parkway. Stopped at an overlook and two friends were there. Tonya rides a SGS and Chris rides a 21 Limited with 131 kit. We talked with them about a half hour and they leaned left, and we leaned right. We continued North to Hwy 21 and rode back down the mountain into Elkin. Stopped for a quick break and headed on home. Total round trip was 125 miles. The bike ran perfectly and I am digging the new Pro-Action fork kits. They made a noticeable difference.
The highest elevation we saw today was 3800 feet.
The sun never came back out later in the day. It remained overcast with rain coming in tonight. But it was still 72 degrees when we returned home.
Got to love North Carolina!
Man these onion rings were great! Just not enough of them.
