911 ride continued:

The weather was absolutely beautiful that day.

Oh it was still daylight at 7:30pm! LOL

This used to be a filling station down town.

Hit the 500 mile mark.

Thanks for riding along and letting us share a little of Mocksville, and Davie County.

God Bless and never forget those that died on 911.

Will Ride 4 Food

My buddy Rob had to head toward the Piedmont today. So we met up at Black Power Smoke House in Jamestown for lunch. What a beautiful day to ride. I was sure jealous that I had to be in the cage today. Great seeing Rob and catching up.

Really good food! I will be back as the famous saying goes.

Toys for Tots Ride

I love Christmas time. It is fun to get out and ride, meet new people and help provide a nice Christmas for children.

Rob said he and his wife are doing the ride at Summer Hope tomorrow. The Carolina Girl and I are going to do the Wilkesboro Ride out of Crossroads. I like to support the smaller rides and help them grow. There are at least 25 Toy Runs over the weekend less than 2 hours from us. Several are huge with 25 to 36 years and get several hundred bikes. Too big for me to do right now.

So if you are in Wilkesboro tomorrow look us up. We’ll be on the Snake Venom Street Glide.

God Bless and do something nice for someone!

Nice, beautiful day for sure. We have stayed away from Pilot Mountain. On the news this evening it looks like they have the fire under control. I will hate to see how bad it is.

Are you going to Crossroads tomorrow?

Crossroads HD in Wilkesboro has an Artic Frost Street Glide that just showed up last month. This is #465 out of 500 World Wide. There are only 400 in the USA.

I will admit it is much prettier in person than in the pictures. Call Micah at Crossroads if interested. He is dealing!

Toy for Tots Ride

Praise be to God for an absolutely perfect day here in NC. We are setting records with 70 degree temperatures in the beginning of December. Yesterday we made the decision on which of the many Toy Runs we wanted to support today. We like our local dealership, we know and like the motor patrol officers and the route. So we chose the following:

Copied from Full Throttle Magazine Crusin Calendar.
DEC 4 INAUGURAL PETE MELETIS 2021 TOYS FOR TOTS RUN Crossroads Harley-Davidson, 1921 US-421, Wilkesboro, NC. Line up @10am, KSU 1pm, bring one unwrapped toy for child & a non-perishable food item. Police escorted, food trucks, Santa Claus, Christmas music. Benefits the United States Marine Reserve Toys for Tots & the Piedmont Veterans Assistance Council. 336-667-1003

We got up this morning and it was 47 degrees with promises of upper 60's and some sunshine poking through the clouds in the afternoon. We made coffee, enjoyed some eggs and bacon and watched a little YouTube. Before long it was already 10am and in the mid 50's and we rolled out. When I told the Carolina Girl that we are riding Belinda (aka Street Glide) she looked at me like I was crazy. Her fir commit was how are we going to carry any toys? I told her I had it all planned out and saddle up and hold on. The bike just had it's 1000 mile service a few weeks ago and it was really enjoying the cool air temps. The Cobra Neighbor are beginning to open up and sound better. We rolled out of Davie County into Yadkin and leaned left onto Hwy 421 North in Wilkes County. I stopped at the Walmart right next door to Crossroads HD and said follow me! We went to the Garden Center which has been converted to the Christmas section and found a big bag to stuff everything in. Next to the toy section. We only needed two toys, but got excited and purchased seven. Then we went to the grocery department for out two food items. Once out in the parking lot we opened up the Christmas bag bag and stuffed it full. Got back on the bike and rode through the parking lot to Crossroads HD with the Carolina Girl carrying the bag over her right shoulder! As we rolled in people started pointing and giving her a thumbs up! We parked around back with about 60 bikes already in line ahead of us. Had a few people walk up and ask if we knew the toys were going with us on the ride to Tilley's HD in Statesville where they would be collect. Do what? So much for our great idea. How are we going to do that? A nice couple on the Goldwing trike offer us space in their truck and everything fit! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once we were set with the transportation of the toys we walked around and met new people, found two former members of the HOG chapter I used to be director of and caught up with them. Went in and talked with Mike and Micah. Then went back to parts and shook Arnie's hand and wished him a "Merry Christmas. The local HOG chapter had fixed breakfast for everyone and was cleaning up. Glad we had already eaten. About that time three Iredell Country motor officers arrived to escort us back to Tilley's Statesville. Mike with Crossroads spoke and handed the mic to Tracy Tatu (pronounced Tattoo) who organized the event. I had met with Tracy earlier and asked about this event. It is in Honor of Pete Meletis who was also a former Marine that passed away last year. Pete was a very generous caring person that was responsible for many events in the area. They saw the need and wanted to honor Pete. I am very glad we could be a part of it. Then it was time for the color guard, the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance.

Total count on the bikes was 86 according to a guy I talked with when we got to Tilley's.

I cannot begin to count the number of times in the last 13 years I have been on rides escorted by the Iredell County Sherriff's Motor Officers. These guys are the BEST!!!!!!

Brandon is the shortest of the three and the joke for the day was "Let's Go Brandon"!!!!

They had support from Wilkes County Sherriff and Police and Statesville Police. I have to pat them on the back for the route selected. We know and ride all these roads. They could have gone more direct shorter routes. What we did was come out of the dealership going South on 421 to Hwy 115 South toward Statesville. Left Wilkes County and entered Iredell County. Then leaned left to Hwy 901 through the big town of Harmony into Davie County. We went all the way to Hwy 64. Made a hard lean right onto 64 toward Cool Springs and back into Iredell County again. Then we leaned left onto Bell Farm Road to Hwy 70 and right toward Statesville to Tilley's.

Before I forget I want to give a HUGE shoutout to all the staff at Crossroads and Tilley's HD. WOW they really helped this be an awesome ride. I am sorry I do not have any running pictures. We did not carry the GoPro and with 116 bikes we were at time spread out over two miles in staggered formation. We never put a foot down in the 65 mile route and arrived to a huge crowd waiting for us at Tilley's.

It was time to stock the table with toys and put our food terms in the boxes. Everyone was talking about what a fantastic ride and route it was. The temps were much warmer than expected at 74 degrees and the sunshine was out. Jacket were coming off quickly!

There were some beautiful bikes on the ride and it was such a blessing to be enjoying the afternoon with so many fellow bikers who love this country and and have a charitable heart.

Some really great BBQ
