Wild Hogs Ride 2020

Page 25, Post 249

Here are a couple of pictures from the Dragon on our ride. The roads are still damp, but we shed the rain gear maybe 15 minutes after these were shot.

The engine is doing very well. I did the 1000 miles service on engine / 30k on bike a few weeks ago. Now have just over 2k miles on the build. Very pleased so far. My buddy Ralph with the blue 09 Ultra had several observations. First I did not tell him about the 117 Stage III kit. It did not take him long to question the sound. Then on several occassions he asked what gear I was in and usually always in a higher gear then he was pulling the mountains. His bike came with a 96 CI twin cam engine. He did a 103 kit at around 75k miles. He has 132k miles on it now and he wants more. We compared fuel purchases and I was usually adding up to 1/2 gallon more fuel at each stop than he was. We never actually checked mileage. I would smoke both guys rolling down the ramps onto the interstates. I'm still stealth with the 114 badging. Hope all is well with you.

The two pictures above are from 129 Slayer on the Dragon. I just got the following picture from Killboy. My first pictures like these with the rain gear on! This is my wife's favorite.

More power is always good.....lol......

Do you know if Ralph did cams as well?......When Dave did my 103 long block, I went with 255's and Rineharts....I only have 1000 miles on it so far and haven't done a mpg check yet.....Just curious if you or Ralph noticed a change in mpg or more/less heat from the upgrades y'all did.....

I asked Ralph about both cams and tuner. He really does not know what he has other than a 103 kit. It was done at Tilley's Statesville about 6 years ago. He has no ideal if there is a tuner on his bike or married to it. Strange to me since he is mechanical and does a lot of his own work. I did lose a couple MPG's but a lot of that is twisting the right grip a little more. The fun factor out weighs the lower mileage! Let me know if you would like to speak with Ralph and I'll put you in touch.

Open Road Ride Report

Barber Motorsports Park

Sorry for the delay on this report. This destination has been on my bucket list for a very long time. I am very glad we finally made it down there. I will not only recommend it to everyone that loves motorcycles but I also look forward to going back. We when down over the 4th of July. Unfortunately due to a death in our family we had to cut the ride short and rush through. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. This is an absolutely amazing place whether you like automobile racing, motorcycles and especially motorcycles from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Gordon Barber made a ton of money in the dairy industry and I'm told he spent $80 million on this complex.

I learned after we returned that a guy I know well is very good friends with the fellow that runs the Porsche Driving Challenge. he says he can get me a ride around the track if I go back.
