have a trip over to Mag valley booked next week. Weather looks like storms every afternoon. Should we just plan to ride in the rain or go on bikes a different time of the year?
What is the best weather wise time to do dragon, Cherohala, waterfall byway...etc?

Another trip of 11 days we never encountered rain--but on last trip we had 2 different days-one a rainout another we rode thru
I just came back from 3 weeks at the cabin near Tellico Plains.1500 mile on the bike and had to put the rain gear on once between Franklin, NC and Murphy.
I didn't ride every day but could have.
Last year we spent a long Halloween weekend in the Smokies.
day 1 was perfect.
day 2 woke up to 35 degrees and raining
day 3 woke up to 28 degrees and snow covering bikes.
day 4 went home mad.
This year, we are going the first week in Oct. Hopefuly we will get a break.
Weather in. East Tenn. changes almost minute to minute this time of year. Have been going to the Gatlinburg area every year for several years now. You can get some good riding in this time of year. We would generally get one day of rain and shower sometimes in the afternoon and evening. This time of year start early. I would be on the road by 7. It will get hot and muggy in the afternoons. Most of the time showers are short lived. To me the best time is mid Sept. We went down in Mar. a few years ago, I trailered the bike in and never got it out of the trailer. It snowed 4 out of 7 days. Have fun and be careful.
