Question West Coast of Florida to Pigeon Forge ?

Can anyone give me a better route to Pigeon Forge, Tn. from Sarasota,Fl. without going near Atlanta ? And without adding too many more miles to the trip ? Thanks !

Run I-75 up to Jasper and enjoy the ride on 441 thru Ga. Once you hit Franklin NC, take 28 west and make your way over to Cherokee and back on 441 to Pigeon Forge......

+1 on what Hammerhead Pat said. If time is not a issue you could also take 129 out of Gainesville ride the Tail of the Dragon on the way in and cross over at Maryville on 321 or 411. While in the area the Little River Road from Townsend to Gatlinburg is a nice little ride. I will be transiting a lot of the 441 route south in Sept. if you see a white and blue Trike give me a wave. Am going into the Weeki Watchie area on 441 to 129 in south GA to Chiefland. Have fun.

I ride through usually twice a year, in May and September. I've taken the back roads around also (83 to 11 / 53), it just takes twice as long. What I do now, is a very early Sunday morning ride through, and stay a week and get the seventh night free. Leave Lake City around 2 in the morning, stopping in Perry about 5 or 6 for gas and then going around Atlantis on the 285 beltway in the early morning on Sundays. If traffic looks bad take 83 East from Forsyth.

This is one way . If you want less interstate take I-75 to Lake City FL .
Pickup Hwy 441 N in Lake City . This will take you all the way to
Cherokee NC . In Cherokee it's a straight shot over the Smokies & then
past Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge . Unless you're in a big hurry it's a 2 day
ride . Stay on the bypasses on 441 unless you just want to tour small
towns . I've ridden 441 many , many times & it's a great road with a
lot of 4-lane & 65 mph speed limits . Not a very busy road once you're
away from towns . If you decide on this route let me know & I can suggest
some places to stay if you need . It's a great ride .

That sounds like great ride. I was thinking 75 to Warner Robbins GA and then pick up 129 but I think I like your route better.

On our return trip from the Keys. We rode 27 to 441. Rode that all the way to Gatlinburg. Good road with little traffic. At least until we got to Cherokee. It was a little heavy across the mountain then Gatlinburg was a traffic jam as usual. It was nice after crossing into GA. Some hills and some bends in the road. After a few days of riding the flat lands of FL it was nice to have a scenery change.

I live outside Chattanooga , TN . It's been my route to
Daytona for years . I prefer to stay off the freeways .
It's a pretty scenic ride . Usually not that much traffic .

Really the only problem area on 441 is Athens Ga home of the Bull Dogs.
