The more years that I tour the less I take. The 100 mile stops seem excessive. I'm well into my 70's and have found that 150 miles stops and fill the bike up, empty your tank, hydrate while walking around then repeat as needed until nightfall works very well.

I don't like less than 700 per day.

700 per day? Depends on your goals for riding.

Getting from A to B is not that important for me. It's what's along the way. Around 350/day works for me - sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less and depends on what part of the country I'm in. Stop whenever I feel like it to gawk at scenery or a butt break. I've done a couple of 500+ A to B days. It wasn't much fun.

I rode the PCH from San Fran to OR in 2012. It's about 160 miles from San Fran to Mendocino where I spent the night. It took ALL day. Excellent ride!
