Default June 10th Seattle to Lajolla.

Getting pretty stoked. In a couple of weeks Me & My two Brothers are riding PCH Aberdeen Wa, to Lajolla Ca. I realize there will be a few detours due to closers but maybe next year for what We miss. Trying to stick to 300 mile days. So Our stops were picked by mileage. Newport Or., Eureka Ca., Half Moon Bay Ca. , Santa Barbara Ca. , Lajolla Ca. , Casa Grande Az. , Winslow Az. , Moab Ut. , Burley Id. , Lagrande Or. , East Wenatchee Wa. , Bonney Lake Wa.. I haven't been through California since My Navy days many, many moons ago. So pretty stoked to see Cali again. The maiden voyage for Me & My Brothers 2017 Street Glides & Older Brothers Goldwing Trike. The past 10 to 15 years I have been on a quest to ride all 48 states. Last year I completed that quest. Now it's time to slow down a bit and smell the surf.

I hope you realize (according to a forum member) that one of those detours alone is 250 miles.

From what I can find, Carmel to Ragged Point I will have to detour around, Around 200 miles. Even still, riding California will be good.

You won’t be able to ride the 35 mile stretch PCH Hwy 1 south of Big Sur to Ragged Point north of San Simeon. But you can still enjoy Big Sur and much of the pacific coast. I don’t know how firm you are about making it from Half Moon Bay / Santa Barbara / La Jolla in 2 days. You might consider modifying your plans as follows:

Half Moon Bay to Monterey Peninsula. Monterey to Big Sur. Back to Monterey. Monterey to Salinas Hwy 101. 101 south to Paso Robles. Paso Robles west Hwy 46 to Cambria. Cambria to San Simeon.300 miles. Spend night in Cambria, San Simeon or Ragged Point. Next day Cambria to Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara to La Jolla.

Another plan you might consider: Spend the night in Monterey and take your time enjoying the peninsula and Big Sur. It is one of the most beautiful areas on the west coast. You can take an entire day enjoying Big Sur Nepenthe, and Monterey Fisherman Wharf, Aquarium, Cannery Row, Pacific Grove Ocean View Blvd, etc). Next Day Monterey to Salinas Hwy 101 to Santa Barbara to La Jolla. 450 miles. You'll make great time from Salinas to north of LA, get in carpool lane and white knuckle it through LA to san Juan Capistrano.

I use to live in Monterey. I now live on the coast 15 miles north of Las Jolla and make the trip to Monterey at least once per year. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks again 71on72. In reviewing My plans, I discovered that My Cousin wouldn't be in town in Casa Grande on Thursday. So I needed 1 more day in Cali. Took Your suggestion & it will work out great.

Hwy 154 from Los Olivos to Santa Barbara is a nice ride and shorter than taking the 101 route

There will be copious 'land barges' on many of those scenic routes. Be prepared to lose time behind each one, especially if you are 10th in line to pass one, assuming that you will get to pass on some of those two lane narrow twisty roads.

Even though the 154 through that part is shorter in mileage, it always takes longer due to slow moving (trucks, rv's) traffic on the hills than just staying on the 101.

There is a detour around 1 and through John Muir park right now. I hit it the other day.

1 is a slow road, especially if you plan to stop and smell the Ocean. Lots and lots of this .....

I took that yesterday. I start at about 8 and shut down around 2 or 3. And get 200 or so miles. But, I am old and lazy.
