We have been going to Maggie for several years around the 4th. Very nice place to get out of the heat of FLA. Bikes are everywhere and more than welcome. Going through the Smokies is fantastic! We ususally stay at Creek Wood Village right downtown (if you want to call that a "downtown"). Owner is Sonja, she owns an HD and is a great hostess. The web page is http://www.creekwoodvillageresort.com/.

We like Joeys Pancake House, but get there early. J Arthurs is good, Butts on the Creek has good BBQ, Salty Dogs is good seafood and Lonesome Dove Saloon is good for liquid noushement.

We stayed in Pigeon Forge and did a nice 150 mile loop that included Tail of the Dragon, Wheels Through Time Museum, Harrahs Casino in Cherokee and back 441 past Klingmans dome.

Loads of competitivly priced lodging in Pigeon Forge, and DollyWood is a nice visit also.

Let me know if you want a copy of the loop.

Have Fun.

The OL and I were just down there last week. Per suggestions from a few folks in this fine forum, we stayed in Bryson City at the Ridge Top Motel. It is a nice ride to Maggie Valley from there (not that far either) and the Ridge Top is a very biker freindly motel. They give discounted rates to bikers and even lay a couple of towels on your seat in the morning if you want to do a quick wipe down. Just my .02.

I stayed at the Best Western on the main drag for 3 days last fall , nice place , good breakfast , reasonable rates. No problems , they even supplied rags for wiping down the bikes

We stayed at the Best Western last year and was very well pleased with it. There was a few in our group that stayed at the Microtel that was next door. If you get over toward Ashville, NC. there is Highway 63 that has a lot of twisties and it runs into 209, Hot Springs Rd. Highway 209 south will bring you all the way back to Highway 19 and back into Maggie Valley. I was told that all 209 all the way to Hot Springs is some good riding too. If you want the route we used last year let me know and I will email it to you.

We were just there a few weeks ago. We just road into town and looked for a motel. No problem finding one, there are plenty. We stayed in the Comfort Inn on the main drag, just a little way from the museum. Act like you are checking out other places and they will make a deal. Try the Country Vittle Restaraunt. They serve family style. They bring platters of fried chicken and chicken fried steak and bowls of all the trimings! It's awesome. They do the same for breakfast!

We have stayed at the Country Inn during the bike rallies and really enjoy the place. My wife enjoys sitting out on the rockers, and by the stream. Also, the owners are super nice people and biker friendly, will supply you with towels for the bike. Also, which is a plus for me but not others, so no offense to those, but there is no smoking on the grounds. Also, it is walking distance to the museum, which we did on a rainy day. In Maggie Valley definitely eat dinner one night at Arthurs, and lot's of great breakfast places. Ton's of great riding roads. Here is the link to the hotel and other hotels in the area. Hope this helps.

Also, as you have read, there are other towns to stay in, and all with great roads to ride.

A good place to stay is the Smoky Falls Lodge.com It has covered parking. Its just down the street from Wheels Through Times museum. This lodge has just been renovated. We just happened to get married there also. (Maggie Vally) that is.
