Door County Wisconsin
Hi everyone I have a birthday party for a granddaughter on September 17 in northern Illinois. I was thinking about taking the bike and riding up to Door County. I know nothing about it except I heard it was pretty nice. I would apprieciate it if anyone can give some info on what there is to do,if there are any good roads to ride, places to stay, good places to eat? Thanks

Door County is an awesome place to ride and you will see lots of fellow bikers. Sep 17 is a good time to go because the crowds taper way down after Labor Day but pick up again for fall color season. You should be between the two. If you are only there for a day ride my suggestion is take 57 north from Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay. 57 and 42 join just before Sturgeon Bay and split just after Sturgeon Bay. Stay on 42 up the Green Bay side to Sister Bay and take 57 from Sister Bay back to Sturgeon Bay on the Lake Michigan side. Peninsula Park in Fish Creek is one of my favorite places to ride. Take the Shore Road if you do, it is the most scenic. You will need a State Park pass if you stop anywhere in the Park but you don't need one if you just keep riding. I was just there last week and picked up a park pass but put it in my wallet since I didn't want to put it on my Trike.
