Great riding.
Stop early to get rooms. It's vacation time here.
Try to avoid crossing mountain passes from the eastside to the westside on Sunday. A huge travel day and a lot of traffic if you are heading towards a big city.
What are your plans?

Might be difficult to get on the spot rooms in the most popular areas: Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite, etc. but, you can probably get rooms nearby. I'd suggest making reservations the day before...then you can plan the next day's ride.

IMHO, some must sees:
Sequoia & Kings NP
Yosemite NP...particularly glacier point
California Highway 1 between Morro Bay & Monterey
Redwood State & National Parks
Mount St. Helens
Oregon Highway 101 along the coast
Crater Lake...but theology books 1 year in advance
Any of the roads that go from Oregon 101 to interstate 5
In Oregon...if you have time...Silver Falls State Park
Columbia River Girge via the Old Columbia River Road...stop at Multnomah Falls

Ditto on the above, all great places to see and great roads to ride. I'd put Yosemite, the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) between Morro Bay and Monterey, and, in northern California, Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway and the Avenue of the Giants, both of which roughly parallel the 101, at the top of the list.

Since it is peak vacation season and motels can fill up on weekends, I would suggest getting a room for a couple nites early on Friday as a base in an area where you can do day loop rides for the weekend, then travel on the weekdays.

There are a lot of other threads that might help you. One that has been active recently and which you can find by scrolling down the Road Trips section is called "Advice for PCH ride.". Check it out.

Steel Cat 41 have you been on North Cascades Highway (Hwy 20)in Washington?
A great ride across the Cascades. Then stay in Wintrop or Twisp.
I enjoy Highway 20 across Washington. Then I stay in Sandpoint ,Idaho
From there take Hwy200 to Missoula ,Montana then ride Highway 12 (Lolo Pass) to Clarkston ,Wa.
A great ride from there is Hwy 129 through the Rattlesnake Grade to La Grande ,Oregon. This becomes Hwy 3 in Oregon or Hell's Canyon Scenic Highway.
I enjoy staying in Pendleton,Oregon a great little town known for The Pendleton Roundup Rodeo in September. Eat at Hamley's Steakhouse.
From there you could head south on Hwy 395 to 74 to Hwy 207 to Spray then Hwy 19 to 26 and west to Bend. Awesome riding small roads and little traffic.
How many days traveling in Washington and Oregon?

Hello from Germany,

I`m chiming in, because my wife and myself are looking forward to a trip from Seattle to San Francisco on a rental bike in September.
I`ve got already a ton of useful informations from threads and links posted here. But please feel free to comment on some roads, we want to ride on our tour (this might be interesting for the TO as well):

WA
#101 around Olympic National Park with quick side trips to Hurricane Ridge, Rialto Beach and Upper Hoh Road.
#131 and NFR#90 from Randle to Carson through Gifford Pinchot NF.
Which road from Carson to Portland? #14 along the north bank of Columbia River, or the Historic Columbia River Hwy along the south bank.
OR
Is #35 and #26 to Mt. Hood worth a detour to Portland?
Which lodging would you recommend for visiting Crater Lake NP?
CA
#96 from I-5 to Willow Creek, #299, #3 and #36 to Fortuna.
The Mattole Rd from Ferndale to Bull Creek.
In Leggett, should I stay on #101 to Clear Lake into Napa Valley, or take a right following #1 along the coast?
Which connection road is worth a closer look - #20, #128, or #116?

Well, a lot of numbers, but any comment is very appreciated.
Thank you
Ernest
