If it wa cool up in the high desert, don't fret..... it's about to warm up a bit.....

 

89 degrees at Furnace Creek. Damn near need a sweater.....

 

Cloudy, windy and Dusty and lots of flys. .... . I am going to head out the south way via Badwater Rd. See what happens when I get out the other end. I am thinking of Barstow for the night.

 

Well, I got to Barstow. It was a good ride. Met some Interesting people. In the morning I meet a bunch of Veterans who stayed in the same hotel. They where on there way to an event in San Diego, I think.

In Barstow I am staying in a very economical motel that has several transient family's. Talked to a few. Very nice folk.

The ride to Death Valley was uneventful if not a bit cool. Of course that got taken care of pretty quick once you start to decend. I rode into Furnace Creek, but it was cloudy, windy and lots of flys, so after a quick lunch I headed out, via Badwater road.

It was the first time I have been on that particular road, and it is not to be missed. You get a real feel for DV on it.

It is a nice ride out that way, and I could feel the air cool when I was gaining elevation. The same way you can feel the heat rising on the way down. It is very noticeable.

There is a little town once you get out of the park that has gas and food. An hour later your in Baker, and then an hour on I 15 to Barstow. There was a hell of a wreck on the freeway about 1/2 way that slowed us down to about 5 mph for a good 20 minutes.

I took some shots today, but the light sucked, so not much to see .....

Lots of this on the way down. It's about a 13 mile decent and a 4,500 ft elevation change.

The motel I am stayin in is on Route 66. Tomorrow I am taking 58 to and through Bakersfield, and onto 101 at Santa Margarita and North to Salinas.

 

Flat tire. Crap.

 

Just keeps getting better..... these guys showed up. .... told me they got called ..... said I crashed, and had a gun in my hand ..... the second picture is what I had in my hand .....
