Anyway it’s good to see you posting here and riding.
Thank you

I was there a while back & rejoined… It’s fun… I can make up short video clips & add music… there’s a motorcycle crowd there that I interact with… I get to dig back into the archives and have fun with old memories…

As you know, I haven’t been riding much in the last few years when it comes to touring… And because of my daughters disability, and that I have to stay close… Those days might be over because of my age… Short trips, only for the foreseeable future… I was hoping to do a big grand tour next summer… It’s not practical…

So the TikTok helps me feed the beast…

I just heard today that my Hemi Durango has been built!… now they just have to check it out and ship it… The plan is to drive up to Cranbrook in September and swap my vehicles over… I’ll take all my camping gear with me just in case I have time to make a run through Banff/Jasper on the way home… it would be nice to sleep in the mountain air for a couple of nights…

she will look, just like this… and they are saying that this is the last year of the hemi engine…

It has the bucket seats for the rear seats… and two more seats in the back… Lots of bells and whistles… I think my small motorcycle cot will fit in the back nicely… And I can use it as a camping car… I will take my tent with me anyway…

Dan… I think my touring days are done… I won’t be able to get out much more than one or two weeks of time for the foreseeable future… I did 2 - 1000 mile rides last year… And 1- 1000 mile ride this year… I will do some day rides between now and October/November… But that’s about it

hence… I have the wrong motorcycle… And I’m seriously pondering “Darla 3.0”…

The only thing that Harley makes that I like is this…

2023 breakout

Haven't heard that, sad to hear. V8's are probably going to disappear before long, replaced by high tech super or turbo charged incredibly complicated little V6s and even 4s. And super expensive to fix if anything needs it. I doubt I'll ever get anything with 4 wheels built after 2020, won't matter to me, probably be too old to drive before I couldn't get a decent used V8 truck. Although if used prices keep going up like the last couple years, might not ever get a decent one again. I hate trying to buy used trucks, so far every truck I've checked into the past three years I've been looking had some kind of deal breaker.

that’s what the dealership told me when I ordered it… And I figured I don’t drive enough to care about the extra fuel cost over a V6… And that the trade-in value, or selling value… Would be much higher downstream because someone’s going to not want one of those V6’s or turbo 4’s or diesel’s or Hybrid’s that they’ll be replacing them with…

… so… it was a business decision… & had nothing to do with the sound of a Hemi V-8…😂😂

… and… and… I am now officially on the list for the first 2024 breakout that comes into Western Canada…🥳🥳

Wife has a 23 Gladiator with the V6 gets about 18 mpg. M 19 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi usually around 20 mpg. The smaller engines have to work too hard.

Smaller engines used to be a marketing ploy more than fact. I've had V8 engined cars that got better mileage than their 6 cylinder counterparts, and V6s that got better mileage than 4s in the same car. Back in the carb days, I did some 2 barrel to 4 barrel swaps and always increased gas mileage, the front barrels were smaller diameter than on 2 barrels and I think the resulting higher air velocity atomized the gas better, cruised more efficiently. You don't actually use the rear barrels much on a 4 barrel. I think you're right, a bigger engine that doesn't work as hard can perform better and still be more efficient. And they sound better...

Making a plan with my Brother... It has been a few years since I visited him on Vancouver Island... so we are planning on a meet up on the Labour day weekend in Sept... I have to stay in Langley for August... be up in Cranbrook for a few weeks in Sept, and then be home again for October... Sept up in Cranny is work... August and October are dog sitting for our neighbour as she wants to get away for a few trips of her own... So, the beginning of Sept is the only time I am going to want to go over... November is a wet month on the Island...

... the plan is to ride over on Friday Morning to miss the long weekend afternoon ferry traffic... but I will make a reservation anyway... then on the Saturday we will do the southern loop through Sooke, we have done that once before, so this time we will reverse the route... On the Sunday we will go up Island to visit Bill our buddy, and stay over... then on the Monday I will take the three boats it takes to do the Sunshine coast... it will be busy, but it is a slow road anyway, and will take the entire day to do it...

...It is a total of five ferry's... the salt water is going to do me good... of course, it will be picture heavy... its a good plan... so The good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise...

The red lines are the boats... there is one small one you cannot see, but the landing there is pretty nice, with a great little restaurant right beside it... should be about 500 miles or so across the three days... it is a nice way to spend a weekend...
