A great day for a ride… And reflection… Ride now, reflection later… When I left at 10 AM it was mid 70°F… When I got home @ 4…it was 95°… And I was riding into the sun… A hot day… A real motorcycle day…
I simply have not been getting out enough… So I decided to put on the full suit… My special longsleeve riding shirt, my Louis Vuitton belt buckle, bears collar around my right ankle… Dialled in the tunes… Stopped at the 7 for a CuppaJoe ToGo And left like I was leaving forever…
… Lots and lots of motorcycles out on the Lougheed highway… Quite a bit of traffic, but I kept the speed down so I could ride and drink coffee at the same time…
… Same spot, but looking east instead of west… Lots of farms in this area…
… That’s Mount Cheam in the background… When I was a youngen I used to log on the highlead shows just on the other side of that ridge…
… The truck scales was open just before Hope… So I popped in to say hi to the scale master, and asked him some questions concerning logbooks to make sure we’re teaching the students the right thing…
… Getting closer to hope… Thats the Fraser river on the right…
… I got as far as hope and then drove around to see if I could find an outside restaurant that had seating availability… Nope everything was full… So I went to the White Spot and had a burger… And then headed home… I didn’t take any pictures on the way back.

Rocky , very sorry I missed you , was moving quite quickly through your area , we were a day behind schedule , but was able to stop by R&R and shake hands with Robin , great guy , very friendly , had a nice chat and bought a couple shirts . I'm hoping a buddy of mine can work out some days off so we can make it back to Nelson next month , fingers crossed .

And now time for reflection… I have moved several times from the Vancouver area back up into the Rocky Mountains… And of course several times back to Vancouver… I always thought that the lower mainland, Vancouver area, was where I would end up retiring… I have now been here for over a year… And I was wrong… I miss my mountains, I miss my roads, and I think it’s time to head back…
I have talked about it with my daughter, even she thinks that it is time for her to head back up into the mountains… Not sure yet if it will be the West or East Kooteney’s … But we’re thinking in a couple years she will sell the condo, move back up into the mountains and build a house…
I need the mountains and I need the roads… that became crystal clear yesterday on my run up to Hope and back.
What do you do for a pre-trip?… Well I always kick the tires, check all the turn signals, headlights, Make sure all the cases are snaped close, and if I have gear that is tied down, check the straps… And off I go… You may remember when I dropped my fob when I was taking a picture at Shiprock and drove away from it… Luckily I sorted that out in the next town… Ever since then I do a walk around before I mount my motorcycle and driveway… If I stop for coffee or gas or whatever… When I did my walk around after lunch up in hope a few days ago… There was my wallet, laying on the ground … If I had not done a walk around, I would’ve been making a lot of phone calls.
...stuff is happening up at work... might have to go up for the rest of the summer in a few weeks... if so, I will take the bike, so will be motorcycling for the rest of the summer each and every day... work sucks, but riding the bike daily does not... I don't do that down here, and I miss it.
Never went up to Cranbrook… Maybe in a couple weeks… Rode around a bit yesterday, and went for a SundayRideDay today… Probably about 100 miles all in…
… Knocked the worst of the dust off before I headed out… Then went directly to the restaurant for bacon and eggs…
… After breakfast I headed for third coffee… Down in Crescent Beach, nice to sit in the shade on a hot day…
… After second coffee I did a bit of SlabWork just to feel the wind… Then went and got lost in Surrey and Langley for a bit… And ended up at the Harley shop for a bottle of cold water… Very nice relaxing motorcycle day.
